Lufthansa Isn’t Planning To Bring Back A340-600 Fleet

Following Lufthansa’s grounding of its Airbus A380 fleet and A340-600 fleet, CEO Carsten Spohr said the airline is not planning to bring back the A340’s.  Citing lack of demand for air travel, the pandemic has forced the airline to become a significantly smaller airline and with the A340’s being an older fleet, their airline said it can’t make a good business case for having the A340’s any longer.  The Airbus A380’s future with Lufthansa also looks bleak as it’s an even larger airplane with four engines and they also remain grounded.

So far, the only four engine aircraft the airline appears to be keeping is the Boeing 747-8, which continue to operate on flights to South American and China.
