Harris County Sheriff Ed Gonzalez Picked By President Biden To Lead ICE Agency

Submitted by News Desk on

President Biden has nominated Harris County Sheriff Ed Gonzalez yesterday to lead the Immigrant and Customs Enforcement agency.  Harris County is home to Houston and is the third largest county in the nation in terms of population and is the fifth largest sheriff’s department in the nation.

Among the controversial decisions he took as Sheriff was to stop the agency from participating with the federal government, and in particular ICE, in identifying undocumented immigrants from those who have been arrested.  Gonzalez has previously worked with the Houston police department and been a city councilman and a county commissioner for Harris County.
