9 Android Apps Removed From Play Store After Secret Code Found To Steal Your Facebook Login
Google has removed nine apps from its Play store after security researcher found malicious code on each of the apps designed to steal your Facebook login information. The apps have more 5.8 million downloads and were designed to look and function like legitimate apps for photo editing, exercising, and device management according to Ars Technica, but are actually Trojan apps.
The apps would offer the user to unlock all the features for free by logging into your Facebook account and that by doing that the user will also remove ads. The apps then load a legit version of Facebook’s login page into the app and as the user types their username and password, it is also collecting that information and sending it to a foreign server.
Dr. Web wrote in its warnings that users are easily tricked because the app looks and functions like a real app. If you’ve downloaded these apps, you should remove them immediately from your smartphone and change your password with Facebook.
