Shell Announces HQ’s Leaving Netherlands And Is Changing Its Name

Submitted by News Desk on

Royal Dutch Shell has announced that the Anglo-Dutch company is leaving the Netherlands and the sole headquarters will be in Britain.  After 130 years of having dual headquarters and stock investment options, the company also said it will just be called Shell, droping the Royal Dutch part of the name.

Under the plan, the company’s headquarters, its chief executive and board meetings will relocate to Britain and will also move its tax obligations to the U.K.  This proposal is set to be voted on by the company shareholders next month.  Shell’s mammoth U.S. operations will still remain headquartered in Houston.  The move comes as more activist investors have bought considerable shares of Shell and continue to push for improved environmental and financial performance.
